Puppies - Our Policies
Our Maremma puppies can be traced back 5 generations, to purebred working parents. We are Code of Ethics Breeders with the Maremma Sheepdog Club of America and are dedicated to raising well balanced, healthy, socialized puppies. Our puppies are raised with our goats and sheep, gradually transitioning to being out with the animals full time by 2 months old. We expose them to our chickens, ducks, and rabbits as well so they get used to small livestock and poultry. We believe exposure to a wide array of animals will better prepare them for their new homes. Pups come with vet checks, first vaccinations, and microchips.
Cost of Limited Registration/Non-Breeding Contract - Please contact me for puppy and adult Maremma pricing.
**Please note Full Registration/Breeding contracts will only be granted to buyers with LGD and/or prior breeding experience**
A $300.00 CDN deposit is necessary to hold a Maremma puppy. Full payment is due at time of pick-up or before transport.
As the puppies personalities begin to appear, decisions regarding individual placements will be made based on the needs of their future home/environment. We follow "Puppy Culture" methods, our pups are handled from birth and receive various livestock introductions daily (age appropriate). Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes by 12 weeks of age. We believe keeping them with their dam for a few extra weeks allows them more valuable time to interact and be comfortable with livestock.
As we cannot predict the number of puppies in a litter, we may not be able to fill all requests. If so, your deposit will be refunded or put towards the next litter.
All our puppies are eligible for registration with the Maremma Sheepdog Club of America and the United Kennel Club (UKC). Included in the total fee per pup is deworming, first vet check, vaccinations and microchip, and 30 days of health insurance with Trupanion.
Please see below for our Puppy Agreement.
We believe in having our dogs PennHip or OFA Hip/Elbow certified.
**We reserve the right to deny Full Registration Rights to potential owners. We request that dog purchased with Full Breeding Rights have their dogs PennHip or OFA Hip tested with positive results prior to breeding their dog.**
Please contact us for test score results.
Pick Up and Transport Options
New owners are encouraged to visit our farm prior to, or at pick up of their puppy and meet Mom and Dad! If this is not possible, we offer virtual meeting via Facetime and we are able to ship puppies via air most places in NA.
The new owner is responsible for the cost of a kennel and airfare if the pups are flown. We will work with you to ensure the best airline for transport. Flights (or long distance ground transport) costs may include vet certificates of health, kennel fees, wellness checks, etc. as determined by airline policies, time of year, or third-party transporters.
Our pups go to their new homes anytime after 12 weeks. Please bear in mind that pups travelling to the USA must have their Rabies vaccination, and possibly wait until 4 weeks after their Rabies vaccination to travel, which will make them about 4 months old.
